Ulyanovsk State University opened its doors to freshmen again. The celebration began with a solemn lineup at the USU stadium. The students were congratulated by the heads of the university and the guests of honor of the holiday: Boris Kostishko  - USU Rector, Vladimir Kononov  - Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Science and Higher Education of the State Duma, Sergey Kuchits -  Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Ulyanovsk Region, Gennady Spirchagov  -Vice-President of the Board of Trustees of USU.

Boris Kostishko and  Vladimir Kononov  took part in the issuing  of student cards  to the most successful first-year students - those who passed the Unified State Exam and got  100 points, winners and prize-winners of All-Russian and regional Olympiads, talented athletes and activists.

The atmosphere of the holiday throughout the event was supported by «Catherine Boys» cover group, USU choir of students and teachers, «Upgrade» pop choreographic team and «Jam» vocal collective.

The students completed the solemn part and released balloons with notes to sky on which the first years wrote their plans and dreams.
