Students of Alexey Mikhalkin, a graduate of USU, bring medals to Russia at the Paralympics in Tokyo.

At the Paralympic Games in Tokyo, Nikita Kotukov from Ulyanovsk won a bronze medal in the long jump. Our compatriot, athlete Anastasia Solovyova brought bronze to the overall medal standings of the Olympic team, successfully performing in the 400-meter race. For our region, her medal was the first award in the history of the Paralympic Games.

The trainer of the medalists is Aleksey Mikhalkin, a graduate of USU. He graduated from the Faculty of Physical Education and Rehabilitation in 2010 with a degree in Adaptive Physical Education. Alexey Vladimirovich glorifies the Ulyanovsk region at all kinds of competitions, training athletes in the Ulyanovsk sports-adaptive school.
